Yes, you read that right. A South Carolina woman was arrested after a warrant was issued by a Magistrate Judge. She first rented the movie “Monster In Law” in 2005, but failed to return it. In the time of her keeping the movie, several certified letters were sent to her address over the movie. When there was no response, the warrant was issued.
The woman was arrested at the courthouse when she was tending to an unrelated matter, and it was discovered she had an active warrant. After serving a night in jail, she was released and the charges were dropped by the rental business. As it turned out, the rental store closed some time ago, likely due to this movie not being returned. Or Netflix.
