To much fanfare today, CodeRED and the City of Hutchinson and Reno County announced a new kind of warning system to alert you of severe weather. This system, when you provide your information, will automatically call you when storms approach. This is a good example of another system to help alert people and get them to safety.

A word of caution, however. This is not designed to be a replacement for the current systems, and has failed before in a dispute between CodeRED and the City of Branson/Taney County in Missouri during a tornado on February 29th, 2012. As the article states, and I continue to strongly urge people to have a NOAA radio in their house, and programmed!
